Population Changes
In 1900, The Florida Panther was estimated to be around 500 panthers; however, after excessive hunting and human interference with their ecosystem the Florida Panther population has dramatically increased since then. In 1967, the Florida Panther was estimated to be around only 12 to 20 adults and the species was identified as an endangered species. According to the National Wildlife Federation, the current Florida Panther population in the wild is between 120 to 130.
